Lite and Balanced effort levels for GitHub Copilot code review are now generally available. They let you match the depth of a review to the complexity and risk of a pull request.
Not every pull request needs the same scrutiny. Documentation updates and small fixes may only need focused feedback, while complex logic, security-sensitive code, and cross-service changes benefit from deeper analysis. You can now:
Lite and Balanced are available with Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise plans.
The Low and Medium effort levels introduced during public preview are now named Lite and Balanced. If you previously configured an effort level, your configuration automatically carries forward under the new name.
When you request a Copilot code review, choose Lite for routine changes or Balanced for larger, more complex, or sensitive changes. Your choice only applies to that review and doesn’t change the repository or organization default.
Organization admins can set a default review effort level that applies to all repositories in the organization. Repositories that haven’t configured their own effort level inherit the organization default.
To configure the default, navigate to your organization settings → Copilot → Copilot code review.
Copilot code review now labels which effort level ran in both timeline events and the pull request overview comment. You can see at a glance whether a review ran at Balanced or Lite, making it easy to track review depth across your repositories.

CipherX, a London biotech, has put tattooing in a patch. Trained staff line up a single-use disc covered in hundreds of microneedles, press it on with a handheld applicator, and leave it fifteen minutes.

The needles are made of tattoo pigment and a biodegradable polymer. They dissolve under your skin and leave the ink behind.
The team at The Verge went up close and personal to see what the experience is like, below.




The result is a permanent tattoo. Same ink, same depth, same removal options if you change your mind.
It just arrives without the machine, the hour in the chair, or the artist’s hand.

Founder Ferdinand Kohle is a materials scientist who was building microneedles for drug delivery before he pivoted. He also wanted a tattoo at nineteen and was too scared, which is a more honest origin story than most. Around 500 have been applied so far.
The limits are real. Designs fit inside a 15mm circle, black only, chosen from a library. Hearts, stars, and, for reasons nobody has explained, Van Gogh’s chair.

CipherX calls each microdot a pixel. A file becomes a pattern of ink-loaded points, then a mold, then a patch, then your arm. Everything between design and skin now happens in software and manufacturing.

Pushing: precision no hand can hold, a real option for people with needle phobia who’ve been locked out, and a platform that could carry vaccines later. Photography didn’t kill painting.
Flattening: a tattoo has never only been the picture. It’s the choosing, the sitting, the hour of low-grade pain, the fact that a specific person put it there. Take all that out and you have an image on skin. The library of hearts and stars doesn’t help the case.
We’re not sure which one we hold. But “painless” is doing a lot of work in the pitch, and the discomfort was never the bug.
